Dōr Eggnog Recipe

Off the back of our interview with Dōr Founder, Jack Blackwell, we took advantage of his previous life in hospitality and extracted one of his favourite seasonal recipes. 

Describe your ideal Christmas Day. What are the rituals? What’s on the table? Who’s around?

My ideal Christmas Day is really simple. Slow morning, coffee in hand, no rushing. A walk before anything else,  just to breathe a bit and reset after the busyness of December.

Food-wise, you’ve got to go all out, but with just good, honest things. The people around me are the ones who’ve been here through everything — close friends, the same few who show up for the good days and the hard ones. We eat, talk, go back for more, laugh at the same stories we always tell.

And the evening is quiet, candles, a board game, maybe a glass of something. Just that feeling of groundedness, which is exactly what I want Christmas to be.  


What's the best drink for the holiday season? 

I'm a sucker for egg nog - Proper, homemade eggnog. It’s festive, familiar, and quietly luxurious. It’s the one drink that forces you to slow down — whisking eggs, warming the milk, letting the spices take over the whole kitchen. I usually make a small batch on a cold evening, pour it into little glasses, and top it with too much nutmeg.

Woven x Dōr // Eggnog Recipe

Ingredients (per serving):

40ml Woven WXC
100ml whole milk
50ml single cream
1 egg yolk
1 tbsp caster sugar

Freshly grated nutmeg plus a pinch of cinnamon if you like

Method:

Whisky egg yok and sugar together until pale
add milk & cream, whisking until smooth
Stir in WXC Pour into a chilled glass or mug
Finish with nutmeg - essential!
