LONDON STUDIO
We are proud to announce the opening of our first satellite blending studio outside Scotland. Located at 155 Hoxton Street, London, (the site formerly known as Superlyan) this innovative space will officially open its doors on 9th September.
A Space for Creation and Connection
By day, The London space will serve as an experimental whisky-making studio, where new formulations will be developed behind closed doors. The space will also open up to host bartender workshops, whisky tastings, events, and retail. As part of the offering, the brand is piloting a bespoke blending service, where customers can tailor a whisky specific to their personal preferences and customise the label. Commenting on the versatility of the brand’s first studio outside Scotland,
Woven’s Brand Ambassador, Lara Farrow, said, “It is more than just a studio; it’s a creative playground for the whisky-curious.”
Our aim is to celebrate the most exciting whiskies from around the world and share them with a new breed of whisky drinker that is flavor-obsessed, curious, and looking for authentic, interesting experiences.
“We’re about discovering what’s possible in whisky, not just preserving a certain image or what’s already there,” says Woven’s Whisky Maker and Co-Founder, Peter Allison.
We believe the time is ripe for expansion beyond their home base in Leith. “Our mission is global,” says Allison. “Opening a studio in London allows us to be at the heart of the New World Whisky movement. With 50+ whisky distilleries now operating in England and over 700 across Europe, London’s energy and position in the world perfectly complement our vision of bringing together flavors and stories as liquid experiences that connect people.”
Freedom to Explore
The London studio offers us the creative freedom to push boundaries, free from the strict rules governing whisky production in Scotland. While these regulations are vital to protecting the integrity of Scotch Whisky, they can sometimes limit the scope for innovation, especially when dealing with whisky from other geographical locations. “All of our non-Scotch products have always been blended outside of Scotland, so we’ve not broken any laws yet,” says Allison. “But the London studio gives us much more freedom and enables a whole new level of experimentation for us, in collaboration with our partner distilleries south of the border.”
Building a Community in East London
Community has always been at the heart of Woven’s early success. Their ‘open studio’ events in Leith’s Biscuit Factory have fostered a loyal following of whisky enthusiasts and curious newcomers alike. Now, Woven aims to bring that same spirit to East London, creating a space where everyone—from whisky geeks to flavour explorers—is welcome.
As well as regular ‘Open Studio’ events hosted by the brand, the upcoming program includes guest tastings from trailblazing distilleries like Thomson Whisky from New Zealand and White Peak Distillery in Yorkshire, alongside bar takeovers from leading whisky bars like The Gate (Glasgow), Cut Your Wolf Loose (Brighton), The Dark Horse (Bath), and Nauticus (Edinburgh). Woven also plans exciting tasting collaborations with local favorites like Dalston’s 40ft Brewery, Assembly Coffee, and flavor innovators Crucible. Plus, each Friday from 4-9 pm, the studio will transform into a contemporary whisky highball bar—a perfect spot for Londoners to unwind and discover something new.
