Your whisky arrived. You've tasted it. Hopefully you like it, now what?
HOW you enjoy these whiskies is entirely up to you. The possibilities are literally endless to play with the environment around the tasting experience. Where you find yourself when you taste, mindset, whether you place your attention on the whisky or the overall ambience of the room will all alter your perception of taste. This fascinates us, and if you want to geek out about idea like this go here. (WARNING! Probably not ideal dram reading)
We're huge fans of enjoying whisky in almost any way you can imagine. But having worked for years in bars and running events - we're under no illusion that even the simplest drinks experience can be elevated with a little imagination, a little nudge of panache. As blenders, the idea that adding something to something else in order to create something new or better / more interesting / more enjoyable isn't just exciting - it's fundamental. As such, we encourage you to make a little effort, you know, like dating in the early days.
First try this...
TUNE IN / TUNE OUT
We supplied data with the whisky, and art. The fact that the whisky creates the other is (we think) neat, don't let your excitement at that ruin your moment with your new bottle! They're connected, but paying attention to one or the other gives profoundly different experiences. Go ahead, try it - and let us know what you think.
These relate to Experience N.3. On our website we've provided both the Visual blender, and the data, plus a behind the blend in depth section where you can really get the full picture of how it was created should you want to.
MUSIC / LIGHT / DARKNESS
Dim the lights, set the scene. find that heavy based glass that makes you feel like you're holding a fancy drink. Discover the playlist that makes your living room feel like the space and mood you most want to be in. If you want to go full tasting experiment try tasting whisky in the dark. If you deprive one of your senses stimulation the others become more sensitive to compensate. hello batman tasting.
Lastly, here's a playlist on Spotify that gave us moments of calm and dare we say, enjoyment during the chaos of our first week as a proper whisky company. Thanks for your support.
