Right across from Glasgow's legendary Borrowland Ballroom, The Gate is where East End charm and hi-fi bar vibes meets serious drinks cred. Founded by industry veteran Andy Gemmell, it’s a community hub where over 160 whiskies, creative cocktails that blend tradition with innovation, and genuine hospitality come together.

Led by Bartender of the Year 2025 finalist Elyse, the team brings care, character, and a passion for flavour to every pour.

THE HIGHBALL

Introducing THE GATE’S HIGHBALL. Does what it says on the tin! This is The Gate in a glass: respect for the foundations, stripped back, yet spot on. As Elyse put’s it: “don’t F with the integrity of the classics”.

Crafted by lead bartender Elyse, a finalist for Bartender of the Year 2025, this one keeps things simple + smart: Woven HOMEMADE, barley syrup, topped with soda. Beneath its pared-back style lies nuance and balance, with malty sweetness, gentle fizz, and nutty, spiced layers of HOMEMADE that unpack with every sip. Clean, confident and just what you’re craving as the weather gets warmer.
